Get married in the Scotland that brought Outlander to life
If you're an Outlander fan, you've probably already dreamed of walking through the landscapes that brought the story of Claire and Jamie to life.
Scotland has provided the backdrop for castles, villages, harbours, ancient landscapes and historic buildings throughout the series.
So why not combine your love of Outlander with your own Scottish wedding or elopement?
As a Humanist celebrant, I can create a ceremony that is completely personal to you — whether you're looking for an Outlander-inspired wedding, an intimate elopement or simply somewhere spectacular in Scotland to make your promises to one another.
And you don't have to recreate somebody else's story.
This time, Scotland becomes the backdrop to yours.

Follow in the footsteps of Claire and Jamie
There are some remarkable places around Scotland where you can recognise scenes from Outlander — but once you step away from the television screen, you discover something even more interesting.
These are real Scottish places with their own history, character and atmosphere.
Doune Castle — Castle Leoch
One of the most recognisable Outlander locations, Doune Castle became Castle Leoch, home of Clan MacKenzie.
The real castle dates from the late 14th century and has a history that stretches far beyond the television series.
For an Outlander fan, simply standing there can be quite a moment.
And for a couple getting married in Scotland, it can provide an extraordinary backdrop for photographs and an Outlander-inspired Scottish experience — subject, of course, to the permissions of the property.

Midhope Castle — Lallybroch
For many fans, Midhope Castle needs no introduction.
This 15th-century tower house became Lallybroch, Jamie Fraser's family home, and the approach to the castle is instantly recognisable to Outlander fans.
Imagine arriving in Scotland, standing among the landscape around Lallybroch and then continuing your own Scottish wedding adventure.
Midhope Castle is privately managed and access can vary, so any ceremony or photography plans need to be checked with the relevant estate in advance.

And there is so much more
The Outlander filming locations stretch across Scotland.
Depending on your plans, your journey could include places such as:
Craigmillar Castle — used as Ardsmuir Prison
Linlithgow Palace — used for Wentworth Prison
Dysart Harbour — transformed into Le Havre
Preston Mill — featured in scenes connected with Lallybroch
Rannoch Moor — associated with the famous standing-stone storyline
Glenfinnan and the surrounding Highlands
Culloden and the wider Jacobite landscape
Your Outlander wedding doesn't have to be traditional
Perhaps you want to go all in.
Or perhaps you simply love the idea of getting married somewhere that feels unmistakably Scottish.
Your ceremony could include elements that have meaning to you — perhaps a handfasting, a quaich ceremony, candle lighting or another symbolic ritual.
Or it could simply be the two of you, somewhere beautiful, saying the words that matter.
There is no requirement for your ceremony to look like anyone else's.
It should look like you.
And if Outlander is part of the reason you fell in love with Scotland, then it can be part of your story too.
Your own Scottish love story
One of the things I love about being a celebrant is that I don't simply turn up and read a standard ceremony.
I get to know you.
How you met.
What you have experienced together.
What makes you laugh.
What you love about each other.
And what marriage means to you.
Then I write your ceremony around your story.
So perhaps you'll stand somewhere that feels familiar from Outlander, surrounded by the landscape that first made you want to come to Scotland.
But the words being spoken won't belong to Claire and Jamie.
They'll belong to you.

Outlander. Scotland. Your story.
